Unless you guys get a different "ML430" it is actually shorter than the XL-7 - the XL-7 is 4700mm and the ML430 is 4587mm. We also only seem to get 5 seater ML430's here? The fuel economy is impressive!? Towing capacity is 2650kg vs 1850kg, so not "3 times"- granted the Merc would do it a lot easier.
If they were a bit longer I'd be kicking myself right now for buying the XL-7! The specs are listed below for the Aussie versions.

Sorry I was comparing it to my Grand Vitara. I wanted her to get the xl7, but she thought the GV was "cute". Women....

The GV has a towing capacity of about 2,000 lbs and the ML 6,000, so it is 3 times. The ML is available here with third row seating, like the XL7. I do not have the option with mine, hell, I hardly ever have anyone in the back seat.
I can see how my first email can seem as though I am putting down the GV, that is not my intent. I was just a bit frustrated that this small economy sized SUV only gets a couple of mpg better than my big, powerful luxury rig. I see no reason that the GV should not get in the high 20's and the XL7 a couple of points less than that.
