Steering the car? the driveshafts don't have anything to do with that. Stopping power is provided by the brakes at the rotor/caliper and also doesn't have anything to do with the shafts.

Think about it.... if you upgraded to some extreme performance brakes, would you be in risk of breaking your axles under hard deceleration?
